Rock, AIR, and Cournal Mustard

By randombrad

I’m not exactly sure how to spell the name of the old yellow toyota long bed truck that I drive around camp and get to the places I need to get to. Today we were getting trained on how to set anchors and repel down the routes and other things it was alot of fun. I enjoyed it. Some more staff came today, they are LIT staff. The world gets smaller one of the new people is from MICH. and is cousins with a guy that I graduated highschool with in North Manchester, IN and we both flew to Lake Hughes, CA. Isn’t the world crazy sometimes. We then had an amazing dinner and laughed and joked around. Read more »

We had to check to see which equipment needed to be replaced and which ones were good. Then had dinner at the Harbucks. We had lazona and it was really good. Then after a while after dinner. I went for a hike with Jessica, she is the aquadics director for the summer. Read more »

Fighting to Sleep in.

By randombrad

It has been weired. So far every morning I have been in CA I have woken up way before my alarm went off. It has been consistently around 7am in the morning that I have woken up. This morning though I tried to force my self to stay in bed until 9:30am -10:00am. I went to lunch and then worked in the program office trying to design some shirt designs for the adventure program shirts. Then I tried to get some precess hammock time. The wind was very intense. It about blue me over while trying to fasen the hammock to 2 trees. Read more »

Walk before you Run!

By randombrad

Today was a nice day once I recovered. I woke up around 10am and decided I was going to run. I had had the desire the last 2 mornings but never acted on them. So right after I woke up I changed into shorts and a shirt and did some streaches. Then I ran at a brisk pace. I ran 1.34 miles in 9mins 24 secs. When I got back to where I have been staying I got really noshious and one of the perminant staff members in-law came out and gave me a glass of water and a napkin as I am emptying everything in my stomach. It took several hours for me to feel completly myself. For most of the day I hung around the program office and watched the office on my laptop and just chilled. Read more »

On the Job Day 2

By randombrad

Today went well. I woke up before my alarm went off. I hope this continues because I need to become a morning person this summer. We had breakfast and learned how to run the leap of faith which is where there are 2 poles and a kid gets harnessed in and climbs up and either leaps for a trapiz bar or throws a basketball through a hoop. It was good I am really feeling good about my skills and ablilty to catch on.
Later that Day we went up to the high ropes and the climbing locations and grabed all of the equipment and drove it down to a big blue container that is being used for storage. We are still working on some nick names for the bin. So far we are calling it “Big Ben” like the clock. The reason for this is so that it will be a on a need to know basis. Also that only people that need to know where big ben is will find it. Also it keeps open the possibility for an alleteration to be used with the Big Blue Ben. Things are going great. We have this weekend off and inculding monday. I’m excited. Thank you God for a great summer and for it starting off so well.

Now At THE OAKS

By randombrad

My flight went well. It was long because went from IND to Kansas City Airport, never got off the plane and then we headed to LAX. After Kansas City I decided to move to an emergency exit seat. Man those seats were golden. I could streach my legs out and still not touch the seat infront of me. I really enjoyed landing in LAX at night there are so many lights. It looks like somone threw some fairy dust all over the ground. Deanna met me at the baggage claim and then we headed off. If wasn’t a bad drive. I did get car sick but never threw up. Lake Hughes Rd. is very curvey and I think it was just the combination of flying and not used to curvey roads yet. I went to bed 2:ooam indiana time and woke up at 10:am Indiana time. The waking up part helped because breakfast is at 8:15am so I was still able to get 8 hours of sleep.
